Home Fire Safety Tips
- Install smoke detectors on each level of your home, in each bedroom and the adjoining hallways. Maintain smoke detectors by testing them each month and replacing the batteries at least twice a year.
- Conduct home fire alarm drills with your family at least twice a year. Make sure everyone has a meeting place and at least 2 exits from each room.
- Have your heater checked by a professional prior to each winter.
- Keep space heaters away from combustible materials (drapes, furniture, bedding, etc.)
- Avoid use of extension cords in place of permanent wiring.
- Have any possible electrical hazards inspected by a professional electrician.
