About Us
Welcome to the official web site for the Joanna Fire Department, Station 19 in Laurens County, South Carolina. We are in the southeast area of Laurens County, bordering Newberry County. We are bordered in Laurens County by Renno, Clinton City, Mountville, and Cross Hill fire district and in Newberry County by Whitmire and Bush River fire district.
We proudly serve a diverse population in the surrounding rural areas of Laurens County. We also respond to incidents with the neighboring fire stations in the area.
Joanna Fire Department currently operates fire types of apparatus to handle the emergencies and incidents that occur in the area – pumpers, a heavy rescue truck, an aerial platform truck, tankers, and a brush truck. We also operate one admin/chief vehicle.
The Joanna Fire Department is a 100 percent volunteer department. A Laurens County Fire Service Division Chief is shared with 3 other volunteer departments. The Division Chief assists with day-to-day operations and answers calls to assist the volunteers.
We are always looking for more volunteer members. No previous experience is necessary, and all training and equipment are provided at no cost. Members are trained on all the apparatus for all types of incidents. We also have non-riding administrative members who perform additional support duties. If you are interested in joining, or would like to learn more about volunteering with our organization, please feel free to contact us. We’d be happy to answer any questions and give you a tour.
